I originally wanted to done a single long winded rundown of this summer's upcoming movies, much like I did on my last post, but there are so many great movies coming out, I felt it would be best to break it down into parts, so here is part one, Speed & Spandex:

SPEED RACER (05/09/2008):

This one looks GOOD. While alot of people are giving the Wachowski brothers alot of shit for the color scheme of the overall look of the movie, I think it's appropriate. Keep in mind, the original series was as vibrant as the movie appears to be, so I don't think looks bad at all. I can't wait....

THE INCREDIBLE HULK (06/13/2008):

After the last one failed to rake in the big bucks, Marvel decides to give it another shot, this time, with Ed Norton as the troubled Banner. I don't know whether or not this will be good or not, but I'm down to peep it out.

The Forbidden Kingdom (04/18/2008)

YES,YES, YEEEEES!!!! Finally, Jet Li and Jackie Chan TOGETHER!!!! Nuf said....

Iron Man (05/02/2008)

Who ISN'T waiting for this movie?!? From what I can tell, this movie is going to be the standout blockbuster of the summer, but I could be wrong. I mean, Faverau DID direct ZATHURA, so.... yea.

Superhero Movie (03/28/2008)

Eeh. I was a fan of AIRPLANE! when I was younger, but this feelings like they try to bleed the parody genre dry. May be good, maybe not. We'll see.

Cloverfeild VS George A. Romeros Diary of the Dead~
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Sup guys this is my review on both Cloverfeild and George A. Romeros diary of the dead. The reason I decided to do both movies is because they both have something very similar with each other" Amateur Cam Corder FILMEDAMASATIONALIZED.Yes they were filmed with cam corders kind of along the lines of blair witch. I am going to take time to look at the differences and similarities to better help you decide which might be better for you.

Differences
*Cloverfeild involved a Godzilla/Gears of war monster like creature Terrorizing New york
Diary of the dead involves Good old Classic Zombies Terrorizing The world but set in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
*Cloverfeild was filmed from the perspective of one hand held video camera while diary of the dead was from the perspective of a variety of perspectives such as: a movie camera, camera phone and many more.Watch the trailers and chek em out.

Pretty much the only differences are the cameras locations monsters and people.Let me get straight to the point though instead of giving you the statistics. To me, Cloverfeild(though a little shaky)was awesome and I wasn't bothered at all by the shakiness. The effects were awesome especially when your adding them to a home video cam type of camera view. I was just amazed at how well they made it work. The characters however played out more like if the cast of One tree hill encountered Godzilla.(not to say that i don't like one tree hill...lol).Pretty much your made to think that its actual footage of a monster attacking New york.THE BIG QUESTION"THE MONSTER. At first you don't know what the monster will look like but you see parts of the monster through various camera angles and news stations. When you actually see the face of the monster you definitely see no resemblance to Godzilla, but more like the giant crazy monster from the game gears of war(Gamers will know). The monster also spawns these little alien crab like creatures that apparently if you get really scratched up by, you will explode within about 15 minutes. The majority of people who didn't like it were mainly people who couldn't handle motion sickness very well so it you can you may love it.Over an all I gave it an 8.5

That brings us back to Diary of the dead. One of my number 1 fav Directors of all time George Romero(the king of zombie movies)comes out with yet another zombie flick entitled "Diary of the dead.George always knows what to do in a zombie movie to get you scared or grossed out. As stated earlier, this movie is actually filmed from many different camera views, which i thought brought a bit of differentials and freshness to the handheld take.It made it cool cause you didn't get tired of watching from the same angle the whole time. The characters in this movie also felt like characters which made me really laugh and want to see them make it all the way through. It was made to feel more like a movie than footage as cloverfeild was. With that said the cameras in this movie were far less shaky than Cloverfeilds.Romero's zombies are far more uglier, grosser, and scarier looking than most and there are plenty of head shots and decapitations to go around. For the people who didn't like his last film land of the dead, My best friend who also loves his movies actually said he like this one better. All in all I gave it a 10 because I luv his work.Check out both movies and see which one you like but they are definitely both worth watching whether you like zombies or big a** monsters terrorizing new york

This summer's gonna be huge if you're a fan of the slacker comedy genre; the type of film that has the basic premise of a bunch of twenty somethings (who are usually pretty big potheads) get into all types craziness, from having sex past or before their prime (40-year old Virgin, SuperBad), to impregnating hot chicks (Knocked Up). The current king of this genre, Judd Apatow, accounted a plethora of releases from his camp (Including the Apatow/Sandler collab Don't Mess with the Zohan), not to mention a new Harold and Kumar flick, and, of Course, the return of Kevin Smith. Lets go down the list:

DrillBit Taylor (3/27/08):

This looks pretty damn funny. I've not a fan of slapstick, which this movie seems to have alot of, but I AM a fan of Owen Wilson, and an even bigger fan of Seth Rogan, the writer. Keep in mind that not only did he co-write SuperBad, he also wrote the Upcoming stoner adventure, Pineapple Express. The premise is this: a group of nerdy kids hire Wilson's character as some sort of low-budget bodyguard. Humor ensues. Thats pretty much it, although knowing Apatow, he'll make it play waaaay better than it sounds on paper.

Foregtting Sarah Marshall (4/18/08):

In this light hearted romance comedy (and when it comes to Apatow, romcom seems to have alot of nudity in it) a musician goes to Hawaii to forget his actress ex-girlfriend, only to find out that she's staying at the same hotel. This one is the one I'm really anxious to watch, not only because I'm a huge Mila Kunis fan, but because I like it when Apatow produces Rom-Coms; it seems that being married to Leslie Mann gave him a knack for romantic comedic timing.

Pineapple Express (8/8/08):

THIS is the one everyone is hyping up. Two stoners (Rogan, and Harry Osborne himself, James Franco)witness a murder and proceed to run from a drug cartel. Outrageous action and comedy ensues, not to mention ALOT of smoking. Franco is stellar in this role, from what I can tell from the tailer and the clip leaked on YouTube. One thing's for sure, the man can assume a fucking role. Although it releases in August, what better way to top off your summer than to light one up and Check this flick out?

Dont Mess With the Zohan (TBA):

Im a fan of both Mr. Sandler and Apatow's writing. Put them together, and you get this flick, about an ex-Israeli soldier who fakes his death to be a hair stylist. The movie will be released under Happy Madison, Sandlers production company, but will be written by Apatow.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay:

The boys are FUCKING back!!! On their way to Amsterdam, Harold and Kumar get kicked off the flight for suspicion of terrorism and get sent to Guantanamo Bay. Ooooooooooh Shit. Cant wait for this one. And I could care less if he ended up being Gay in real life, NP is a fucking PIMP.

Zack and Miri make a Porno:

I don't really know when this is coming out, but word is that it should be out by the summer. I don't know how accurate that is, but based on the fact that Smith edits the movie as he shoots it, this may very well be. He started in January with the shooting, so assuming he shoots for 4 months, finishes edit and sound mixing another month and screens it for one more, it might
make is for the tip end of summer, but i WOULD HOLD MY BREATH. Still, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Summer's gonna be a fucking blast.....
